Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross Student Procession
Tuesday, September 17, 2024
Students at St Joseph’s Campus participated in a student led procession on Monday 16th of September, commemorating the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. This procession was planned by a group of Year 11 students who wrote the prayers and organised students to join them on the day. Many staff commented how lovely it was to see this procession during Break 1, in particular how students from all year levels joined in or stopped to pray as the student procession went past them. Thank you to all students involved in the planning of this procession. May God bless you as you continue to be a wonderful witness to your faith.

Student Reflection
The faithful of Antonine College partook in a Holy Cross procession to celebrate the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. This feast marks an incredibly important day within the Eastern Catholic Churches.
This feast was established to commemorate how, in 326, St. Helena was believed to have discovered the true cross that Jesus Christ was crucified on. When mentioning the Holy Cross, it is considered that in doing so, we are actually referring to our Saviour Who hung upon it and thereby redeemed us all. By our salutation to the chief instrument of Our Lord's Passion and death, we trust in hope that He will show mercy to us. May the cross of Our Lord be exalted high above all! Lord have mercy on us all and grant us your grace so that we get to partake in the joy of heaven with you.
As the faithful processed we shared a litany and prayers with each other while being led by incense, icons, crucifixes, candles, and crosses.
Truely, the Cross of our Lord shall be exalted above all!
