The High School Model United Nations 2024 Conference
Thursday, September 12, 2024
The High School Model United Nations, 2024 Conference, took place at Coburg High School this week. This gave a select Year 9 students an opportunity to experience acting as delegates to the General Assembly. The following students, Ayah, Layelle, Joshua, Karam, Tasnem, Iman and Marvin were chosen to represent Antonine College at the conference. They presented a 2.5-minute position statement representing their said countries, Seychelles and the United Kingdom, illustrating their stance on protecting the world’s oceans.
The students actively reviewed the Draft Resolution on the Planet Ocean: Protecting the World's Oceans, Seas and Marine Resources, discussing the clauses with selected schools in Melbourne. The day involved teams amending the Draft Resolution, engaging in heated discussions and debates to form a final Resolution to this serious environmental issue. Our year 9 students thoroughly enjoyed this experience, especially working with different schools to help save our planet and its oceans.
