Student Reflection

I was able to attend a presentation by representatives from the BDO Accounting and Audit and Auditory Firm. They were able to describe what a career in accounting would look like for us in the future. It was really beneficial for those of us who attended.

We heard about the many different opportunities in the field of accounting that are open and available to us after we finish Year 12. It was quite interesting as some us are very keen to pursue a career and study accounting at university in the future.

Some of the industries that are available within the BDO firm that stood out for me are Financial services, Retail and Healthcare. Not only were we shown some of the industries within BDO, but they showed us a slide that had a list of companies that they work with such as the Commonwealth Bank, Qantas Airlines, Officeworks etc. Within these companies are some potential part time job opportunities for us while we study Accounting. For example, at university a part time job for us could be working in that same field to get an idea what it would be like for us in the future.
