Year 12 Physics
Tuesday, June 20, 2023
The Year 12 Physics students were learning in Unit 3 about electric fields, magnetics fields and their applications. They applied their knowledge of the two fields to the operation of a DC motor. Each student built their own DC motor from a kit, using two magnets, a copper wire wrapped around the rotor into several coils. When connected to a DC power supply, the motor started to rotate. The students investigated the factors that affect the function and the speed of the motor and suggested different ways to improve the operation of the DC motor.
