Year 7 Melbourne Zoo Excursion

Tuesday, July 30, 2024

On Tuesday the 30th of July, the Year 7 students went on an excursion to the Melbourne Zoo as part of their biology unit.

The students walked around the zoo in their classes and observing animal behaviours, taking note of their habitats and reading the information about the animal which will help them for their assessments.

Here are some student reflections of the day:

It was a fun experience and we all had fun learning what’s in the tram and how to enter, (using our mi-key card, obviously). When we arrived at the zoo our hopes were up, happy and excited, we were also welcomed by nice and helpful workers giving us maps and instructions on how to navigate the zoo, we were taught about classification and animals, and had a very interesting tour showing us animals like, lions, dingoes, emus, snow leopards etc, there was also a canteen containing hot food, slushies and snacks and shade and places to rest in general the zoo was very exciting and entertaining. - Jean

On Tuesday the 30th of July, the Year 7 went on a zoo adventure to see Melbourne’s wild life. We got to experience and see the habitats of the animals and we even got to see six elephants! These six included 2 babies and 4 adults. While on this excursion we had to take many pictures of our chosen animal and later on we will do a research project about it. All the Year 7’s had so much fun while walking around with their friends and teachers around the park. My favourite part of the excursion was when we got to do the free roaming around the zoo with our friends. We want to thank the teacher for the lovely time we had and can’t wait to make more fun memories in Year 7
