Year 9 Retreat
Tuesday, September 17, 2024
On Tuesday the 10th of September, Year 9 students participated in their Year 9 retreat which focused on their year level theme of ‘Bridges’. The retreat began with a Year 9 Liturgy, led by Monsignor Joe. At this liturgy, students prayed for God to be with them during challenges that may encounter in life and to look to Him for hope and courage during these times. Thank you to Monsignor Joe, Sister Rita, and the Year 9 students who participated in the readings and offertory during this liturgy. Students then had the opportunity of hearing from Year 10 Wellbeing and Learning Coordinator, Ms Isabella Athaide, who spoke to the students about a personal time in her life where she relied on her faith and trust in God to overcome the challenges that she faced. Thank you to Isabella for sharing her story with our students. The talk and questions that followed was a highlight for many of our students, who followed up with letters of gratitude to Isabella. Students spent the afternoon focusing on challenges that they face looking at the different pressures that society may put on them and the way that we should respond as children of God. Thank you to all the Year 9 Religious Education teachers for their support in facilitating the sessions and to all Year 9 students for their respectful participation.

Student Reflection
The Year 9 Retreat was an amazing experience that helped me grow closer to God. It taught me not to be angry with Him during tough times but to trust that He has a plan. Miss Athaide’s openness about her sister’s story made me appreciate the importance of gratitude and faith. I also learned that as woman, we are created perfect and worthy in God’s eyes. This day truly opened my eyes and deepened my connection with God, showing me the value of faith.
